Blending In
We took our first stroll to Holland Park today. It is a nice park with a great walking/jogging path, soccer fields, playgrounds, etc. Jack was mesmerized watching all of the children running around. I promised him that he’d be joining them soon enough……gotta work on crawling first.

The Flat
Our flat is small. I mean, very very very small. It is hard to find a place for all of our stuff. Notice I said “stuff”. They don’t seem to have a lot of “stuff” over here. And I think that is a positive thing…. [Read more →]

Weather, Transportation and Cuisine
The past couple of days have been cold but clear and sunny. Today it is foggy, overcast and much colder….exactly what I expected. But that didn’t stop us from getting out and about. John worked from the flat today so we woke up this morning and hopped on the tube: it was Jack and my first tube ride…. [Read more →]

Jet Laggggggggg…..
We had a rough night. Jack went down at 9pm last night but woke at 11pm and wouldn’t go down again until well into the morning hours. He woke this a.m. and then took his first nap for 3 hours. Which was great because I was able to take a nice nap. I laid on the couch and was O-U-T. After Jack woke up… [Read more →]

London calling….
Well, John, Jack and I are finally settled in our London flat. The flight was great….except that it was scheduled to depart at 7:20pm Sunday night but due to bad weather we didn’t leave Atlanta until just after 9pm. However, Jack was great…. [Read more →]

Can we fit his jumper and highchair in a suitcase?
It is hard enough to pack for a three week trip to another country. Throw a 7-month old baby in the mix and it is a whole new ball game. Aside from trying to pack as much food, diapers and wipes as possible (so as to not pay an arm and leg for supplies while there), there are certain objects that are such a part of our daily routine that we just can’t take with us. Jack LOVES his jumper….it is his main form of calorie expenditure throughout the day. He sits in his highchair a minimum of twice a day for his meals and sometimes for play time while I cook. And while he has almost outgrown his swing, it is still a nice activity for him as it stimulates him musically and visually with all of its bells and whistles. I suppose I will just come home with stronger biceps since I will be his jungle gym. And maybe a better singing voice! It needs work, trust me. ![]()

Getting ready for London…..
3 days until take off. Getting excited! It is funny to me that Jack has no idea he’ll be in a different country in a few days. I think he will do just fine. I read that babies and small children adjust to the time change much better than adults. Probably because if he really needs to sleep, he can just crash anywhere: in the stroller, on the train, on me or John. Hopefully the flight will go well. Wish us luck and we’ll keep you posted!
