Alicia and Sean sitting in a tree….
Literally…photo to come. On April 14th, 2009, in sunny Jamaica, Alicia Dawn Brown became Mrs. Glassford. After dating for a couple of years, Alicia and Sean decided to get hitched. And what better place than the beautiful Caribbean. Understandably, only a handful of us were able to make the trek to the island but what a great group it was. Aside from family, there were a handful of Alicia’s friends and a handful of Sean’s friends joining in the celebration. John and I were very excited to take the trip for many reasons. First and foremost, who doesn’t love a tropical getaway? Secondly, what parents on the verge of baby #2 don’t need a vacation? And lastly, John was honored with the task of photographing the wedding (pictures to come).
Being pregnant, this was a much different trip for me than had been originally thought. Now, everyone knows that an all-inclusive resort pretty much translates to “drink as much as you can and get totally trashed the whole time”. Not so much. After the flight, which was pleasant aside from my swelling-by-the-minute feet, our driver greeted us at our car with homemade rum punch for John and bottled water for me. Upon arrival to the resort, John was greeted with another fruity rum drink and I was give a fruity fruit drink. I went straight to the bar and requested a non-alcoholic beer and the bartender looked at me like I was from Jupiter. The next day after sitting at the pool and beach for a few hours, I had to have a beer. While I would have settled for the faux taste of a non-alcoholic, that clearly wasn’t an option. So John and I went to our minibar and I downed a Corona-esque beer in about 2.5 mintues. It was delicious! There is nothing like a cold beer at the beach. And that was my alcohol experience on the trip.
The wedding went off without a hitch. It was gorgeous outside, Alicia looked breathtakingly beatiful, Sean was elated and everyone had a great time. John rocked the photography endeavor and everyone was very complimentary of his professionalism and creativity. He is truly talented. His assistant isn’t too bad either. Once we sort through all 3,000 photos, I’ll be sure to post some of them.
Our time in Jamaica flew by. It was so nice to get away and, as much as we longed to get away for a few days, we missed Jack before we even landed in Jamaica. But I think that is just the way it goes. The trip did us good…all of us. Jack missed us and was so cute and sweet when we returned. It was obvious that he really missed us. I’m glad we went….who knows when we’ll get another trip!!!
