Eye see London

We headed out around 9am this morning. We found out on our way that Westminster Abbey that it is closed today and tomorrow due to Lent so we will try to go one morning next week. We got off at the Westminster stop anyway, saw Big Ben and Parliament and headed toward the London Eye. We rode the Eye and took some photos from the top. It was neat but not a very clear day so the photos didn’t do the view justice. Here are some photos…..

~And more fun!~

Made our way to Doggett’s Pub which was quite a walk from where we were but worth the trek because it is beautifully located on the south bank of the river. Both the fish and chips and sausage and mash were quite good, as were the beers. Jack enjoyed chilling at the pub. He has been such a good traveling baby. As long as we are going, he is content. He took two nice stroller naps today.

After lunch, we stumbled upon St. Paul’s Cathedral, which is quite magnificent. We didn’t go inside but the exterior was pleasing enough. The Baroque style church was built in the late 1600s and has held many services, both of mourning and celebration. Prince Charles and Lady Di were married here. An enormous and beautiful structure.

We took the tube back to our neck of the woods and walked through Holland Park back to our flat. Holland Park has the small neighborhood charm of Morningside. Cafes, bars, and specialty shops abuzz with early evening energy. The homes in Holland Park are gorgeous. We probably walked close to 5 miles today. Not bad. If I lived here I would not own a car. There is no need…..everywhere you want to go is an easy ride on the tube or walkable. Great exercise! John and Jack took an evening nap and then we went to Alounak - an Iranian restaurant - for dinner. Very tasty kabobs. Jack made more girlfriends tonight….he likes waitresses.

Looks like you had a fun day. I think Jack is a born traveler. Something about the “Genes”, wouldn’t you say, old chap.

The last pic of Jack here I think is the cutest I’ve seen yet.
One brown eye, one blue and those 2 little teeth. How precious!
Happy trails!
